Westbury Estate Development Timeline

Over the past few weeks, we have held a series of online consultations to discuss Phase 2 of Westbury Estate’s rebuilding. We held 3 workshops for residents and neighbours of Westbury Estate, and a presentation was given at the Resident Engagement Panel meeting held on 08 March.

A special newsletter on the proposals for phase 2 was issued to residents in February. You can read it here

We gained insightful feedback from residents. This will be considered by the architects and landscaping team, supplying the technical information for Homes for Lambeth to submit a planning application to Lambeth Council by the end of April.

Local people have the opportunity to make any comments for the planning committee to consider whilst making their decision. Below is an indicative timeline for the redevelopment of the whole estate.

The countdown for the new homes has begun as tenants in the low-rises prepare to move. Visits to the new homes will be taking place this month so that residents have been able to see the actual home they will be moving into.

The last REP was held on 8 March and mainly focused on a presentation on the Phase 2 developments of Westbury Estate. Future REP meetings will begin to look at more community based initiatives.

We offer a range of activities for our residents, from yoga sessions to improving your digital skills. For more information, visit engage.homesforlambeth.co.uk/activities. 


We have teamed up with Clear Community Web to offer you a series of presentations designed to help you feel more confident and informed about the internet.

Over the course of the programme we will cover subjects such as your safety online, how to buy online, accessing services, getting better deals and knowing your rights.

These sessions are aimed at residents who are new to the internet or who may want to brush up on their skills and fill in some gaps.

Our yoga sessions are continuing every week. We are running sessions that you can listen to and join in with your phone and others which are on Youtube for you to participate in.

  • Wednesdays at 2 to 3pm (phone / Skype)

We want to say a massive thank you to our residents who joined and participated in our Easter Break Activities. It was a pleasure to see you all enjoy yourselves during these challenging times, and we hope to see more of you next time.


Lambeth Council are urging all residents over the age of 11 to take a PCR Covid-19 test within the next week. This is due to the new cases of the South African variant which were found in the borough.

This testing will help to identify any further cases and help limit the potential spread. Nine additional testing sites have now opened across Lambeth and we encourage you to get tested even if you have no symptoms.

It is anticipated that new residents will be able to move in during May. We recognise that residents who have been pre-allocated to a new home are keen to view their new home. Both buildings are nearing completion.

Block C2 is due to be handed over to Homes for Lambeth atthe end of this month. On-going works particularly externally around the site would have represented a safety hazard for visitors. Hence viewings have been delayed until later this month to lessen any potential health risks. We appreciate the patience of those residents who are looking forward to move in and we look forward to meeting you at the viewings. In the mean-time, we are aiming to make video recordings of the new homes.

These will then be sent individually to residents who have been allocated a new home. Block E (Portslade Road) will be completed in early June and viewings of these properties are likely to take place in May. However again we are aiming to ensure residents moving to this block have access to a virtual viewing of their home before the physical viewings take place. LBL Decants Team will be contacting residents with further details.



I’m Steve, the new IT Apprentice at Homes for Lambeth. I focus on providing IT support and training for our staff, including both guides and 1-2-1 training sessions. This can be rewarding when you have helped someone through difficulty and they can get on with their day.

I was made redundant due to COVID-19, so I decided I would use the opportunity to expand my skills by training in IT. I am a Lambeth resident and when I saw this opportunity to work for Homes for Lambeth as well as get my desired qualifications, I knew it was an opportunity I could not let pass.

Apprenticeships are a great way to get into any industry, as they not only give you a qualification but also hands-on experience. I would not only like to be successful in my study but make a positive impact at Homes for Lambeth.
