Update on Angell Town boiler house demolition

I wrote to you in the Spring to give you an update on our plans to demolish the old boiler house on Overton Road and provided you with a proposed timetable.

After working with your local housing office, school and Church I can now provide you with some more detail about the planned works and proposed timetable.

What has happened since Spring?
We have been working closely with key stakeholders such as the school, church, your local housing office and the council's employers' agent Artelia to find ways of reducing the impact of the demolition works as much as possible.

What will happen next?
We are currently finalising details with the contractor who will be carrying out the demolition prior to starting the work over the next couple of weeks. We are in the process of talking to residents whose homes are directly next to the boiler house site as we are aware of their concerns.

Regular communication will be sent out in various forms to update everyone before, during and after the demolition.

When will the demolition works start?
The process is taking longer than we envisaged and therefore there has been a delay on the programmes timetable which is below. The timetable is subject to change but we will keep you informed.

What is planned?

What will this mean?

When do we think this will happen?

The demolition contractor will be gearing up to start the work, e.g. erecting hoardings around the site.

The demolition will be carried out to below ground level. To complete the demolition the site will be levelled off to ground level. To keep the site secure fencing will be installed.

How can I have my say?
The block representatives will be your ambassadors so you are all kept informed about developments and it will be an opportunity for you to have your say.

We will provide updates via newsletters, the school’s communication channels, this website and drop in sessions. Information will also be displayed on the hoardings that will be erected around the site during the demolition works.
