Phase two of Fenwick Estate Rebuilding Programme Approved

Following a robust public consultation process, Homes for Lambeth are pleased that Lambeth Council’s Planning Committee overwhelmingly approved the proposals to build 27 new homes at Fenwick Place.

Fenwick Place is the second phase of the rebuilding of Fenwick Estate. The new homes will be 50% affordable, including eight homes at council level rent, all of which will be prioritised for Lambeth tenants and resident homeowners currently living on Fenwick Estate. The proposals also include three wheelchair accessible homes and a new communal garden for residents.

Councillor Matthew Bennett, Lambeth’s Lead for Planning, Investment & New Homes added:

“It is great to see the next phase of the rebuilding of the Fenwick estate moving forward. This project will provide much-needed affordable, family-sized council homes for local residents as part of our wider plans to deliver more and better homes in Lambeth. Importantly, this scheme also delivers a major reduction in carbon emissions as part of our ambitious plans to tackle the climate emergency.”

Jitinder Takhar, Chief Executive Officer of Homes for Lambeth, said:

“I’m delighted that Lambeth’s Planning Committee has approved our plans for Fenwick Place. These new homes will achieve a reduction in carbon emissions by more than 70%, reaffirming our commitment to being at the forefront of building sustainable homes to meet the climate challenge.”

Stewart Davenport, Chair of HFL Build remarked:

“Fenwick Place marks an important milestone for Homes for Lambeth and the rebuilding of Fenwick Estate. This application and the future for the estate will mean more affordable homes for residents and families on Lambeth’s waiting on the council’s housing list.”
