Over the last few days we have become aware of a story circulating about Key Guarantees for resident homeowners, specifically the guarantee that any resident homeowner who wishes to continue to live on their estate will have the opportunity to do so.
As we are always trying to keep uncertainty for residents to a minimum I wanted to affirm that the Council stands by this guarantee. Unfortunately, a change in EU regulations means that the Council is having to re-consider the details of how this offer is made. The ‘Brexit' vote has not changed the regulatory framework in which Council currently operates. However we will continue to monitor the situation and will take the necessary actions to protect the Key Guarantees and the programme.
There are alternatives which will allow the Council to fulfil the Key Guarantee that any resident homeowner who wishes to continue to live on their estate will have the opportunity to do so. The Council is currently confirming the details of this approach and will consult on this as a part of the wrap up consultation to improve the Key Guarantees. The Council will also ensure that a solution is in place before any homeowner needs to take up any such offer.
