Meet Shaheen

What is your role?

Housing Contracts Manager

What my typical day looks like

My day generally consists of a plethora of meetings. There are so many people involved behind the scenes in making the residents' properties and managing them. This means that I have to collaborate with a lot of people every day. So far, I have met and worked with many of my fellow staff members, along with Council staff, Pinnacle staff, residents, Councillors, construction companies, architects, developers, computer systems providers, and contractors.

I've also had some training sessions and was happy to meet my new apprentice, Asile. Visiting Lollard Street and taking electricity meter readings was a highlight of mine as it is nice to see the estate in person! I’m looking forward to meeting more residents as lockdown restrictions ease.

Something interesting about me

I own a nail salon and can do a mean pedicure. Funnily enough, I'm not too fond of feet. This showed me you should embrace the things you dislike as you never know what you could be good at.

What you can ask me about…

Absolutely anything. If I don't have the answer, I will Google it, or I will find out and come back to you!

Why I'm at Homes for Lambeth

One of my strengths is to improve and tweak things to make them better. This is what I would like to do here at HFL. If anyone is unhappy with some of the service elements they receive, I'm here to listen to what you have to say and do all I can to help. I want my team to work together with residents to create a happy environment and a great home to live in. I came to Homes for Lambeth to help set up the new Housing Management service, and I am glad I did. I enjoy meeting people, and I have met so many friendly faces in such a short time.

What I'm most proud of professionally

Winning Employee of the Year for Value for Money is what I am most proud of so far. I won this because I implemented a tenancy fraud partnership with Islington Council at Circle Housing. My team was also nominated for the National Housing Federations' Housing Heroes' award for the same partnership.

What I'd like to achieve in my role at HfL

I want to provide residents with opportunities and build better relationships between residents, Homes For Lambeth and their managing agent. I appreciate the importance of working with the people who live in these neighbourhoods to get the result they all deserve. I want to create a seamless and successful housing management service and be accountable for the decisions we make and our performance. I want to be us to perform exceptionally in all areas. We can only get there through collaboration. Ultimately my measure of success will be residences' happiness with our services. I am already working on some of the feedback I have received from the people I have met. I hope they notice some positive changes soon.
