Meet Samantha

What will be your focus in this new role?

My focus is to ensure our organisation fully understands the needs of the residents impacted by our work. I want to ensure we are inclusive in how we work and provide opportunities for residents to co-create their neighbourhood supported by architects and design experts – with their voice heard throughout the process.

I believe our residents should live in safe and well-managed homes and receive a high customer service standard.

What do you think are the biggest challenges facing Homes for Lambeth?

In the modern world, we talk a great deal about connectivity – but loneliness and isolation are growing issues.

I want Homes for Lambeth to provide opportunities for individuals to establish connections with each other – supported by health and wellbeing services and digital engagement – to ensure our residents can get the most from life.

Supporting communities to recover from the impacts of Covid-19 is a huge challenge. We will be working with Lambeth Council and voluntary organisation partners to ensure our residents are well supported.

What are your immediate priorities as Operations Director?

My immediate priority is to keep up the pace – we are a young organisation growing fast!

Homes for Lambeth has achieved an enormous amount in a short period: the delivery of 70 homes, 110 new homes in construction and 123 homes with planning approvals.

A priority for me is meeting (virtually) colleagues and residents to establish new connections, and in person, once the lockdown is lifted.

Where do you see Homes for Lambeth and your department in a year?

I see Homes for Lambeth going from strength to strength. I want us to be a beacon of best practice for the housing sector – both in delivering new homes and excellent social impact work. I can’t wait to play my part.

What do you do in your spare time?

Well, there’s a difference between spare time pre-lockdown and during lockdown! Previously, I used to lift weights as a way to keep fit and stay in shape. In the winter lockdown, I have been enjoying boxsets and chocolate a lot more. I’m looking forward for this (very necessary) hibernation to be over, so we can get back to doing the things we love!
