We were joined by Pam Wallace from the London Learning Consortium who help Londoners access training opportunities in Maths and English and getting advice on employability.

Pam met individually with all the residents that come along with another 13 residents who could not attend in person given details of LLC’s various offers.

We also meet residents to discuss their housing concerns. For more information about the London Learning Consortium you can email [email protected] or visit londonlc.org.uk/llc-local

Housing Management Update

Saying safe

In the February Newsletter we mentioned some behaviour that was causing difficulties in managing the estate and keeping residents safe. We have since seen an improvement in people leaving litter and rubbish in the stairwells and elsewhere. Thank you for your cooperation. We also know that some of this behaviour, and the anti-social behaviour that was happening in the tower block at 3 Gundulf Street, was being done by people who are not our residents.

There have been no incidents in the last few weeks, but we will keep the situation under review.

Action on repairs

Some of the works needed in the lifts at 3 Gundulf Street have also been completed, and there has been a big reduction in the number of reports about the lifts not working properly. We are still working on this with our partners and will be adding some features to make sure the lifts are more reliable in future. We have also now completed works on the inner door of the lobby so that the entryphone system works properly in every way.

Thank you for bearing with us while we got these works carried out.

Update from Homes for Lambeth CEO

Hello, my name is Jitinder Takhar. I am Chief Executive Officer at Homes for Lambeth. Always an exciting and dynamic environment to work in, my role is to co-ordinate staff effort, collaborate with Lambeth Council and provide information to the Board to ensure they can guide and monitor the organisation effectively.

Our vision at Homes for Lambeth is to build thriving communities and better futures for our residents. In the current environment we will be working harder than ever over the coming months to deliver our business plan commitments and provide you with a wide and diverse range of community activities, training and opportunities. This will involve different ways of communicating with you as we must all follow social distancing guidance.

We have already provided routes to interact over the internet, such as online yoga as well as using the more usual post and telephone to keep in touch.

I joined the organisation in autumn 2019 and want to bring my skills to bear and make a difference to people’s lives by nurturing talent at all levels - whether staff, at board level or with you as a resident.

What would I like to achieve here at Homes for Lambeth? To help build communities and homes that stand the test of time.
