Surveys and Report Results

At the last KWGREP meeting, Survey and Report results from Stage 1 were presented to residents. Results from the Tree, Electrical Sub-station and Underground surveys were mapped out and further surveys were presented which were relevant to priorities from the Residents’ Brief.4_survey_map.png

Preliminary Ecological Appraisal :

Habitats within the site boundary include scattered trees, buildings and hard-standing, which may provide suitable habitat for bats and nesting birds. Further surveys are recommended.

London Underground Survey:

The design must not alter existing loading on the tunnels or structures and support cannot be taken from the tunnels. Consider movement from demolition, construction and vibrations from adjoining operations.

Archaeology and Heritage:

Information about previous development on site indicates that potential Roman ruins may have been disturbed and removed. When demolition takes place there may be a specialist on site to monitor if any remains are found. An archaeological watching brief may be required, this is subject to confirmation from the Council Archaeological Officer.

Light Pollution Report:

The development will seek to mitigate night-time light pollution and prevent unnecessary light spill. Energy efficient and LED light sources are proposed.

No. 15 Knight's Walk

You may have seen contractors coming in and out of No.15 Knight’s Walk recently. This is because some minor works are being done on the bungalow and we are excited to announce that once this work is complete, we will be opening up the doors to No.15 as a new space where residents can find out more about and influence the plans for Knight’s Walk.

Most opportunities for residents to get involved and give their input up until now have been in quite formal, ‘meeting’ settings. At No.15, we want to create an informal space where everyone is welcome to come and chat, ask questions and share ideas and memories of the estate. Every month there will be a range of activities, exhibitions and coffee & cake afternoons for you to join in.

If you have ideas for how we could use the space we’d love to hear about it! Email: [email protected], call 0800 0720 265 or tell us at the next council drop in.

Look out for updates about our first Coffee & Cake afternoon on the Knight’s Walk notice board. Once building work is finished, we will be open every Tuesday from 1-4pm for Coffee & Cake with Catherine and Nataly from make:good and 4-6pm for the council drop-in with Paul Gordon.
