Rehousing (Decanting) Process

Rehousing (Decanting) Process on Knight’s walk
In this month’s resident meeting Angela Nanton from the Lambeth Decant Team came to present some information about the different steps and options for rehousing for residents on Knight’s Walk.  Notes from the session were circulated to all homes on Knight’s Walk in the form of a handout along with the meeting minutes. Below is a summary of the key steps and information from the handout. Please get in touch with Paul or Keith from Lambeth if you have any questions. Copies of the full handout are available at No.15 Knight’s Walk.

Home Loss and Disturbance Payments

As a secure tenant you are entitled to a statutory Home Loss Payment. The current payment is £6100.00.

Disturbance Payments are payments for costs you have incurred when moving to a new property, they may include the following items; Removals, Appliances, Telephone/Cable, Redirected Mail, Locks and Alarms, Soft Furnishing, Furniture, Flooring, Loss of Earning and Travel.

Please note all requests for reimbursement must be supported by a receipt.

When you have chosen a rehousing option and accepted a property

Contact your Resident Decant Officer, Paul Gordon, who will help arrange the following with you:
A date for the removal company to carry out your moving survey and to deliver packing boxes to you.
Take your flooring choices (where applicable) and arrange for your chosen flooring to be fitted in your new home when you have signed the tenancy and have the keys.
Relinquishment of the tenancy for your current home. This is giving notice that you are moving out and into a new home.
