Homes for Lambeth signs up to House Proud Pledge

At Homes for Lambeth, we are proud to serve a vibrant and diverse community . As part of our commitments to our residents, we have signed up to HouseProud Pledge, the network for LGBTQ+ people working in social housing to increase the visibility and inclusion of the LGBTQ+ people.

HouseProud Pledge is a scheme available to all social housing providers, allowing them the opportunity to demonstrate their commitments to LGBTQ+ residents by:

  • Ensuring LGBTQ+ residents have an input at an executive/strategic level
  • Increasing LGBTQ+ visibility by using the Pledge symbol
  • Initiating a programme of staff training to improve understanding of LGBTQ+ lives

It is important to us that our residents feel like they can safely express themselves without fear or prejudice.  By signing up to the Pledge, Homes for Lambeth is committing to improving housing services for our LGBTQ+ residents by demonstrating equality and support.

As part of our commitment to the pledge, we are adapting the way we work as a business to ensure we properly represent the LGBTQ+ community and promote best practice. This will include but not be limited to; providing wider training for our staff and senior leadership team to raise awareness and hosting workshops and events for residents to provide awareness and support for LGBTQ+ groups.

To mark Pride month, we also hosted a ‘Let's Talk about: Pride Month’ event. The focus of this event was to promote diversity across our sector and in our partnerships with stakeholders. The event will also help raise awareness on the experiences of the LGBTQ+ community within our business, and how we can improve our housing services for them. The event showcases some fantastic guest speakers including:

  • Anna Kear, Chief Executive Officer for Tonic Housing
  • Christopher French, Chair of Lambeth Links
  • Councillor Lucy Caldicott, Lambeth Council Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care

Our main priority is to ensure our residents feel safe within the communities that they live in, and that they have equal opportunities to flourish and thrive.
