Homes for Lambeth accredited by Mayor of London’s Good Work Standard

The Mayor of London’s Good Work Standard has accredited Homes for Lambeth, highlighting Homes for Lambeth’s commitment to a diverse, fair and inclusive workplace.

Homes for Lambeth is striving to build thriving communities and better futures; part of that commitment is to offer employment opportunities to our residents. With the economic recovery in Lambeth post COVID-19, our work could not be more pertinent.

The Good Work Standard sets the benchmark for the best employment standards and helps employers contribute to a fairer and more inclusive London economy. This means the economy works for all Londoners and more Londoners can access good jobs, in workplaces that support their health and wellbeing.

Jitinder Takhar, Chief Executive of Homes for Lambeth, welcomed the news and said:

“By becoming one of the first social housing providers to be accredited by The Mayor’s Good Work Standard, Homes for Lambeth is at the forefront of retaining a diverse, talented and successful workforce in the industry.”

Richard Stevens, Chair of Homes for Lambeth Homes Board, remarked:

“We are pleased to be one of the first organisations to join the Mayor of London’s Good Work Standard. Our commitment to our people is one of our most important values as an organisation, and we welcome this important recognition.”

Cllr Jacqui Dyer, Lambeth’s Lead Member on Jobs, Skills and Community Safety, added:

“We’re determined to make Lambeth a fairer place to live, and that means improving working conditions for everyone.

“This council has been leading the way on these issues, and we’re proud to be a London Living Wage employer. But we have an obligation to encourage as many employers as possible to follow suit.

“I’m delighted that Homes for Lambeth, the council’s own housebuilder, has shown its commitment to a diverse, fair and inclusive workplace.”
