Draft Equality Impact Assessments published for leading estates

As we move forward in our plans to build better homes for current residents and more homes for those waiting on our housing lists we are aware of the need to make sure we are protecting the interests of current residents. We do this in a number of ways including the Key Guarantees, paying for Independent Advisors, having a council team for each estate along with a dedicated decant team.

To ensure that this is working and no group is being discriminated against because of the rebuilding estates we have commissioned independent experts, Ottaway’s, to carry out an Equality Impact Assessment on the three estates where planning permission has been submitted – Knights Walk, South Lambeth and Westbury.

The initial work for these Equality Impact Assessments (EqIAs) was carried out in 2015/16 and presented to the council’s Cabinet. Last year (2017), Ottaway was commissioned to review and refresh the EqIAs. These assessments will be reviewed periodically and reported to the council’s Cabinet at key milestones in the projects. These documents are currently in draft.
