Boiler House

I wrote to you last Summer to let you know about our plans to demolish the old boiler. After working with your local RMO, school and Church I can now provide you with some more detail about the planned works and proposed timetable.

The old boiler houseThe Old Boiler House

What has happened since last Summer?
We have been working with a ‘contact group’ made up of representatives from your local RMO housing associations, the school, and the Church to put together a table for the demolition of the old boiler house. We have also been working to find ways to reduce the impact of the demolition works as much as possible.

What will happen next?
We are in the process of recruiting block representatives from each block on the estate who the contact group will meet as and when necessary to keep people informed about the demolition plans of the works and for people to have their say on them. We are aware of sensitivities with particular blocks which are very close to the site and will talk to residents in Fairfax House and other neighbouring blocks in due course.

Artelia have been appointed as the Employers Agent for the council. They are currently surveying the site and have started the process to employ a contractor to carry out the demolition. The main works for the demolition are proposed to take place during the school holidays for minimum disruption to the children and parents. We are working very closely with the school and agents to ensure majority of the works happen during this period.

Regular communication will be sent out in various forms to update everyone before, during and after the demolition.

When will the demolition works start?
Below is the current timetable for the demolition works happening on the site. This timeline is a draft and may change. We will keep you informed of changes as and when they happen. We will let you know in advance of any work starting on the site.

What is planned?

How can I have my say?
The contact group will hold meetings as and when necessary with block representatives so you are all kept informed about developments and it will be an opportunity for you to have your say.

We will have newsletters, a web page, and drop in sessions with updates, Information will also be displayed on the old boiler house itself and the hoardings that will be erected around the site during the demolition works.
